CANDIDATE PROTOCOL: Focus your narrative on ‘constrained optimization’—how you balanced battery life vs. signal fidelity. This is the specific technical debt they are trying to solve.

Official Role Description: Oura

Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We’ve helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

We are looking for a Staff Product Manager, Core Algorithms & Sensing Platforms to lead one of Oura’s most strategic product areas: the sensing and algorithmic foundations that enable our future member experience.

This role sits at the intersection of software, firmware, hardware, science, and cloud. You will drive product strategy and execution for foundational sensing capabilities and core algorithms that power current and future Oura experiences. You will help Oura make smart tradeoffs across on-ring compute, raw data pipelines, battery, storage, sync behavior, signal quality, and member experience while shaping the roadmap for how those capabilities evolve across multiple generations of hardware.

This is a highly technical individual contributor Staff PM role. You will not just define features, you will help define the platform decisions, capability bets, and architectural tradeoffs that determine what Oura can build over the next several years.

This is an on-site (Helsinki or Oulu) or remote Finland-based senior role. We are not able to relocate people for this role.

What you will do

  • Own product strategy for core sensing and algorithmic capabilities that cut across multiple feature areas and product lines
  • Drive discovery and productization of foundational capabilities spanning software, firmware, hardware, cloud, and science
  • Partner closely with Science and Engineering to translate emerging algorithmic opportunities into clear product direction, development plans, and decision points
  • Lead cross-functional tradeoff decisions across battery, memory, storage, sync, latency, algorithm performance, and user experience
  • Help define how core algorithm capabilities should be partitioned across ring, phone, and cloud over time
  • Inform future hardware architecture decisions by bringing a strong product and software point of view to sensing, compute, storage, and system design choices
  • Work across current and future hardware programs to ensure foundational capabilities are designed for scale
  • Align leaders across Software, Firmware, Hardware, Science, Design, Data, and Product on priorities, risks, sequencing, and success criteria
  • Create clear product narratives and decision frameworks that help executives understand why a capability matters, what tradeoffs it requires, and what it unlocks
  • Partner with downstream feature teams to transition foundational capabilities into member-facing products and experiences
  • Drive clarity on when a capability is ready to move from exploration to roadmap commitment and from technical feasibility to member value

We would love to have you on our team if you have

  • 8+ years of product management experience, including significant time in highly technical product areas
  • Strong experience working on connected devices, wearables, health tech, embedded systems, or other products spanning hardware and software
  • Demonstrated ability to lead ambiguous 0-to-1 or platform-level initiatives that require deep cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience working closely with firmware, hardware, software, data science, and research or science teams
  • Strong systems thinking and comfort making product decisions in technically constrained environments
  • Ability to understand and guide tradeoffs involving signal quality, power, memory, storage, sync, latency, and architecture
  • Track record of translating complex technical topics into clear product strategy, requirements, and executive decisions
  • Excellent judgment on sequencing, risk management, and when to invest in foundational capabilities versus local optimization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across disciplines
  • Passion for building technology that helps people live healthier lives

Strong pluses

  • Experience with biometric algorithms, sensing systems, or signal-processing-heavy products
  • Experience with edge computing, cloud-based model deployment, or products that distribute computation across device and cloud
  • Experience influencing hardware roadmaps or future architecture decisions from a product role
  • Experience in regulated or clinically adjacent health products
  • Experience operating across US and EU teams and time zones

Why this role is important

Oura’s future differentiation will increasingly come from the quality of our sensing systems, the intelligence of our algorithms, and the choices we make about where and how those systems operate. This role is critical to ensuring we build the right foundations so that future products are more capable, more scalable, and more compelling for members.
