WHOOP empowers members to perform at a higher level through a deeper understanding of their bodies and daily lives.As an Electrical Test Tech Lead in the WHOOP Hardware Electrical Engineering team, you will lead the development of lab-based test infrastructure and validation approaches for highly integrated human performance optimization products. You will work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Software teams to enable rapid iteration during advanced development, new product introduction (NPI), and continuous improvement.You will manage a team and own how systems are measured, debugged, and validated in the lab, defining strategy and building flexible and reliable test setups that accelerate learning and de-risk designs. You will mentor engineers, establish best practices, and drive strong engineering rigor in test and validation.RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead a small team of electrical test engineers and technicians, setting direction, priorities, and expectations for executionSet the technical vision and roadmap for electrical test infrastructure, aligning team priorities with broader hardware and product goalsOwn and architect system-level validation in partnership with systems engineering across development phases, ensuring comprehensive coverage and efficient executionDefine and enforce best practices for test architecture, automation, data quality, and documentation to scale team effectivenessArchitect and guide the development of Python-based test infrastructure, automation frameworks, and lab test systemsGuide development of scalable lab test systems and fixtures (including test PCBAs, breakouts, and instrumentation interfaces) to increase velocity across programsPartner with cross-functional leaders to influence product architecture for testability, observability, and long-term robustnessEnsure lab infrastructure, tools, and processes scale to support multiple concurrent programs and increasing system complexityTravel up to 15% domestically and internationally to support builds and partnersQUALIFICATIONS:BS or greater in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field5+ years experience in system validation, test engineering, electrical engineering, or similar rolesDemonstrated experience mentoring and driving team executionStrong electrical engineering fundamentals Experience with scripting (Python or similar) and version control (Git)Extensive hands-on lab experience including use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers, and similar equipmentStrong problem solving and analytical skills with system-level thinkingExcellent communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional technical effortsStrong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.  In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package. These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
