This team’s work is critical to delivering robust systems that streamline internal workflows and empower engineers to focus on breakthroughs in development.In this role, you will have both technical and people management responsibilities. On the technical side, you’ll work closely with product management and internal stakeholders to refine requirements and scope scalable solutions. You’ll support the team in shaping technical designs, architecture, and operational best practices, helping maintain high standards for reliability, flexibility, security, and user sentiment. On the people side, you’ll lead and mentor a cross-functional team of backend, iOS, and Android engineers by providing regular feedback and fostering professional growth. You’ll be instrumental in promoting a positive, high-performance culture grounded in innovation, teamwork, psychological safety, and continuous learning.RESPONSIBILITES:Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for building platforms the integrate across embedded, mobile, backend, and third party services that enable research initiativesDefine technical strategy, architecture, and design for features that support research-focused initiativesPartner with cross-functional leaders to understand research needs and translate them into scalable systemsManage third-party technology vendors and relationshipsMaintain engineering best practices in development, testing, and deployment processesServe as a player-coach by contributing technically while driving team delivery and growthProvide regular mentorship, feedback, and coaching to team members to support their professional development and growthFoster a culture of innovation, psychological safety, collaboration, and continuous learningQUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a hands-on software developer combined with a proven track record in engineering managementStrong technical skills in software development, testing, and deploymentDemonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and deliver complex, cross-functional projectsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to align technical and business prioritiesComfortable working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a strong sense of ownershipStrong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributionsThis role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.Β Β In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package.Β These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs.
